BRIEF

Approximately 21.2 million Americans have a substance use disorder and only 11% receive treatment for it. Behaivior, an award-winning start-up based in Pittsburgh, PA, has made it it's mission to help individuals who struggle with addiction in their journey towards a healthier life.

Recovery is a mobile application that supports individuals in their addiction recovery.

THE PROBLEM

Due to the fast-paced environment of the application's development, quick design decisions needed to be made by the software development team to continue to progress towards deployment. Although the progression of the app did move substantially forward, focusing more on the design aspects was imperative for a more rewarding user experience.

THE TASK

I was in charge of conceptualizing and redesigning the main dashboards of the application to better service people in recovery and their care providers.

THE SOLUTION

Introducing Recovery.

THE MAIN DASHBOARDS

Accessibility to Resources

Having easy access to a support network and other resources are crucial during the recovery journey. Prioritizing the accessibility to important resources was the first step towards a user-first design.

Prevent Relapses by Monitoring Current Individual States

Current behavioral data is updated via a wearable device and is distilled into an easy-to-understand interface to help monitor and ultimately prevent relapses.

The Conclusion.

THE OUTCOME

All main dashboard designs are currently being developed and integrated into the application. The team is prepping the application for deployment and is soon to be released.

Key Takeaways
The Importance of Design Systems
Working with an entire team of software developers, having a standard and a rule book not only establishes consistency within the design itself but also stregthens synergy between the designers and developers.
The Importance of Modular Designs
Since devices and screen sizes are changing consistently in this ever-evolving world of technology, designing with flexibility in mind is crucial for accessibility and ease between all platforms.
Words From The Leadership

"Anna worked as a UI/UX designer at Behaivior LLC, and she substantially updated our web and mobile designs for dashboards for application users. Our focus is on improving the health of individuals in recovery for opioid use disorder, so positive user-centric design is essential for our success.

Anna is a thoughtful designer, paying attention both to references in the literature as well as taking feedback from members of the team at Behaivior. This acceptance of feedback improved implementation details, but did not lead to a compromise in the quality of her designs.

She worked closely with the Software Engineering team, regularly coming to stand-ups so that she could ensure that her designs accounted for multiple conditions and application configurations. Anna has left a strong, positive mark on the look and feel of Behaivior's application, and her focus and drive make her an excellent addition to any team."

- Arthur Sugden, Chief Technology Officer at Behaivior LLC

"Anna was a pleasure to work with. She was detail oriented, organized, open and responsive to feedback, considerate, and skilled in UX/UI."

- Ellie Gordon, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Behaivior LLC
